DOES YOUR CHURCH MEASURE UP.
Above the basic teachings of Christ, which differentiates us from the other denominations and faiths, are the teachings for spiritual growth in the Church, without which the church will wander the wilderness until they either close or are taken over by seducing spirits which look to satisfy the body and not the Soul, the senses and not the Spirit.
So many churches today are going nowhere spiritually because they do not know where to go. They fill their seats every Sunday and have a good attendance mid week, but the people themselves are ineffectual Christians and lack any wisdom in things pertaining to God.
For the purpose of this study I will assume that you have the basis of a Christian faith, that you have accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour and are now on the road of spiritual growth. If you aren't in that position then may I suggest you start your journey HERE.
After a seed is planted in the ground which contains all the nutrients needed for growth it still needs watering and tending to release the potential for growth, otherwise it will wither and die. Like a seed a new Christian seated in a well established Christian rich Church still needs the right teaching and nurturing otherwise that Christian will spiritually wither and die.
Becoming a Christian is not a one step journey, you do not inherit all the wisdom of God by accepting His call and letting His spirit enter in to you, rather you become as a child again, in need of teaching and guidance in your new way of life, forgetting the old and putting on the new. You have become a new creation and as such have a long journey of discovery ahead. Because of this you need to know that the church you are planted in is one which not only had a firm foundation in Christ but also is being fed daily, with the Words and wisdom and knowledge of God.
Question your Pastor and ask to be fed based on sound teachings. It is not a privilege to be fed it is a necessity and your Pastor will be judged over and above the congregation for how he executes his calling and nurturing of those in his garden.
