Once saved always saved?.

I find myself having to write something quickly to fill this void of ‘coming soon’. It still seems to be a big subject for Christians and so I will briefly explain my view, so you can prepare and no doubt give me your view when I fully address this question.

Do I believe in one saved always saved? NO

Many scriptures are given stating God will never leave us, and I agree with all of them, I would be a fool not to but many scriptures are left out too, ones which explain FULLY the grace and mercy of God.

While ever YOU stay in God’s presence and live a life pleasing to God, (not perfect, no one is) then God will honour and protect you and you WILL inherit the promised salvation.

If YOU move out, away, back or any other negative word from God’s presence by choice, turning your back on what you know to be true, then YES you will lose that inheritance which God freely offered you. This is the truth behind the Grace of God, it was freely given by God to us, it is a gift which we don’t deserve and like all gifts can be rejected. Grace isn’t forced on us, neither is salvation. When we accept we then are brought into the promise and inheritance of Israel. Ephessians 2:8-9.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

But make no mistake it is not a free get out of jail card, there are stipulations to keeping your salvation and quite rightly so. If we don’t hold up our end then we by OUR OWN actions forfeit the right to the free gift of salvation.

People say that ‘you were obviously not saved’, ‘you didn’t come to know God in a real way’, otherwise you wouldn’t back slide or turn from God. Rubbish, I know of plenty of people who were on fire for God and over time that fire has faded or been extinguished for various reasons. All the reasons were followed by a choice by that person to change THEIR OWN mind. No one changed it for them, God didn’t take it away because He wanted to, THEY made a choice to reject the gift, whether for a while or for ever, and if during that time of rejection they died then YES I do believe they face an uncertain eternity.

Would they go to Hell? Who knows, I don’t know their heart and I would never presume to make a judgement on them, but hypothetically speaking if some one on fire for God turned their back on God went to live a sinful life, rejecting all the calls for repentance, then yes I believe they would by their OWN choices go to a lost eternity.

You only have to look at Revelation 3:16 and the church at Laodicea, a view of the final church to see that God does not see acepting the gift as the final step to salvation. The church was lacking and the people weren't being a presence for God.

16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

They were a church and today are the church, but they are in danger of being lost. Does God save them anyway, NO. In the following verses He urges them to sort themselves out, and God even says He will. Revelation 3:19.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

The call to the church of Laodicea and today, is to repent, change your ways, or else. Why would God write to a church if they were saved once and for all.

Simply put this is my brief point of view and no one will change my mind, God is not in the habit of ignoring Sin, neither is He of two minds. If you love God and put Him first in your life then I am positive you will meet Christ in the air when He calls His church home.
