THE SPIRIT CHART 3

PNEUMA (Greek) - Literally means BLOW-EFFECT, blast of air - the effect is seen, but not the cause. By implication, Spirit, the invisible, intangible power of action, life and intelligence.

"God is the One, Eternal, Absolute Spirit, ( John 4:24. ) Spirituality, Unity and Eternity are the very essence of His being, and He, Himself is the sum of all highest, most perfect life. But as such He is at the same time the most real of all realities, self -determining Ego, conscious Personality, indeed, eternal super-personality, and all finite attempts by human intellect to explain His infinite being are eternally vain". (Sauyer)

God, who is "the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh" Numbers 16;22. "the Father of spirits" Hebrews 12 :9, put OF His Spirit INTO man and "the inspiration (breath) of the Almighty giveth them understanding". Job 32:8

Man's beginning - Genesis 2:7

The Garden of Eden (Paradise) was the beginning of the ways of God, with mankind on this earth. Through his spirit man, the soul, could attain to God consciousness. The soul and spirit are one as to their nature. The spirit, being the spiritual channel through which the soul is directed to God to receive complete satisfaction through his communion with his Creator.

The physical brain of man is empowered with intellect, by his spirit, which God had loaned to him. The brain etc. has no power of its own, it is the 'piano', and the spirit is the 'pianist' who plays upon the brain, bringing understanding to the person. Through the spirit God also gives wonderful revelation to the unbiased, willing believer.

Fruit of the spirit - Galatians 5: 16 - 26.

The flesh acts verse 19, the spirit bears fruit, verse 22, delicious not only to us but also to God. Fruit is not the result of mechanical effort, but the natural expression of life and growth. The true believers soul must feed upon the appropriate spiritual food. "Not on bread alone shall man be living, but on every declaration going out through the mouth of God". Matthew 4: 4: Gk. Jesus said, " The spirit is that which is giving life , the flesh is benefiting nothing. The declarations which I have spoken to you, are spirit and are life". John 6 :63.

Man's task - Genesis 2 :15.

Man was to "Be fruitful and increase yourselves, people the earth and subjugate and rule it" Genesis 1:28. He was given a royal commission, the sovereignty of the earth, to rule and through his offspring to lead the earth back to God.

Man's fall - Genesis 3 .

Through the flesh, the physical channel, man obeyed the word of an overthrown ruler of the past world, who was Satan , the enemy of God, thus committing treason by handing all authority over to him. "To you shall I be giving all this authority and the glory of them, SEEING THAT IT HAS BEEN GIVEN UP TO ME, and to whom ever I will, I am giving it"Luke 4:6 Gk. At the moment of disobeying God's word spiritual death entered, in that his spirit was cut off from God, and with it also, under Divine judgement the physical death of the body . Genesis 5:5

Man's deaths - Genesis 2 :16-17.

"It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement" Hebrews 9:27.The first being the physical death, the body to dust, then the later being the spiritual death of the soul. Death means cessation, a ceasing or stopping. Death for the physical body is it, "returns to the earth as it was, and THE SPIRIT RETURNS TO GOD WHO GAVE IT. " Ecc.12: 7.

The soul is the only entity left. Being spiritual and eternal it cannot be destroyed, so it has a choice of two destinations whilst in the flesh, either the place prepared for Satan and his angels, or to the presence of God. The place for the unredeemed is called the 'UNSEEN' (UN-PERCEIVED) or Hell, which is to be in total darkness without the knowledge or comfort of God, of the spiritual world, and no connection at all with the physical world.

"The wicked (lawless one) shall be turned into Hell, and all nations that forget God". Psalm 9 :17.

Hence the need for redemption.
