The birds seen in this diagram are there at the behest of God. Their main duty is to eat the flesh of all that are killed during the battle at Armageddon. It may sound morbid but it has a practical application as well. For after the destruction of the Devils army there will be a lot of bodies decaying in the sun. The 'fowls' as it says fill themselves on the bodies clearing up as well as fulfilling prophecy.
