THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB

Following the Judgement or reward of Christ, all 'called out ones' or Christians will be invited to attend the Marriage supper of the Lamb, the Lamb, being Christ (Revelation 5:12 and John 1:29,36). Revelations 19:7-9;

7. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

8. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

9. And he saith unto me write, blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb..

The relationship between Christ and the 'Christian body of people' or 'Church' is described in the Bible as a marriage, Christ being the Bride groom and the Church the wife to be. There are quite a few scriptures relating to this relationship. In Mathew 25:1-14 we have the story of the 10 virgins awaiting the coming of the bridegroom and in Ephesians 5:31-32 where it says;

31. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and he shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one.

32. This is the great mystery; but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

It is only fitting then that at the marriage there be a supper afterward where all concerned can be as one round a table, enjoying each others company. It is a relaxing time after the Rapture itself and the Judgement, a time where you can get your bearings and just relax in Christ.

If you look at the 'last supper' where Jesus dined with his disciples it was not a formal affair but a brotherly meeting where all reclined with one another and relaxed. Jesus was not sat at the head of some great table with servants scurrying too-and-fro. All the disciples as well as Jesus ate and shared together. This Marriage supper if it is a literal supper will be no different, Christ will not be sat on His throne but amongst his 'body' the Church. This is why we have the analogy of the bride and groom, because there is love there, a personal relationship. You do not get an image of a King and his subjects, a director and the shop workers. All are one but we still have Christ as the groom the head of the marriage. It is not a domineering partnership but a protective loving partnership.

Ephesians 5:23-24;

For the Husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Also at the supper the bride will be given white linen, which seems at first that everyone will be given new clothes, but if you look to the end of verse 8 you see that the clothes are a representation of the new body, 'for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints'.

Following the judgement of Christ the Christians or body of Christ will be pure and free from all traces of the world and sin they will become new creatures, Christ like in purity and this is the reason they will be attired in a white robe type garment. Their purity will be glowing, white being the representation of righteousness. There may be some kind of robe as well we are not told the details. We know we will get a new body and that body will not be flesh, as ours is now so we can not say if our bodies will need the addition of clothing.
